Police Process on Arrival
When police arrive at a domestic violence call, they first ensure everyone’s immediate safety by separating those involved if needed. Officers will listen to each person’s account, collect visible evidence, and may check for injuries. Their role includes assessing the situation to determine the next steps according to local laws.
Arrest vs Report
Police may make an arrest if they believe a crime has occurred and there is probable cause to do so. An arrest is a formal detention for suspected criminal behavior.
